NEW COMPETITION FOR SELECTION OF GARDA TRAINEES 2024 ANNOUNCED
An Garda Síochána, in conjunction with the Public Appointments Service, opened a recruitment competition for Garda trainees on the 15th January 2024. Applicants are first invited to complete a series of online aptitude tests and assessments. You can start preparing for the next Garda recruitment campaign now with our Garda Stage 1 online course.
The competition is NOW OPEN from today - Closing Date: 3:00pm Thursday 8th Febuary 2024
An Garda Síochána is seeking to attract candidates from across society and with a wide variety of skills to join An Garda Síochána.
Key Dates;
Overview of Garda Trainee selection process:
- Online Application: the closing date for receipt of applications through PAS is 3pm on 8th Febuary 2024
- Stage 1: Online Assessments will commence in March 2024
- Stage 2: Interviews & Other Assessments will run commence April 2024
The Stage 1 is comprised of the following:
Part A - Assessment Questionnaire
This online questionnaire is split into two sections:
- First section is series personality profile statements which requires rate on sliding scale
- The second section is a series of questions related to scenarios that may be encountered while working as An Garda
This test is appox. 1 hour long.
Part B - Aptitude Tests
The aptitude tests can be comprises of the following:
- Verbal comprehension
- Numerical assessment tests
Each test is approx. 15 to 25 minutes long.
How To Apply
Applications must be submitted via the PAS website. A full list of eligibility criteria can be found in the official Information Booklet released by the Public Appointments Service
